Overview

As a UX/UI designer, I was presented with the opportunity to reimagine the Pedagogija.rs website. This project was a thrilling challenge to modernize an academic platform, aiming to significantly improve user engagement, accessibility, and overall design aesthetic.

Objective

The primary challenge was transforming an outdated and static website into a dynamic, user-friendly, and visually appealing platform. The existing Pedagogija.rs lacked the interactivity and modern design that today's users expect, making it imperative to revamp the website to meet current web standards.

Process

My approach to the redesign was comprehensive and user-centered, involving the following steps:

• User Research: I began with thorough user research, engaging with the core audience of educators and academics to understand their needs and pain points with the existing site.

• Information Architecture (IA): I then restructured the website's IA, aiming for intuitive navigation and easy access to the most sought-after content.

• Visual Redesign: With a refreshed color palette and typography, I created a contemporary and scholarly aesthetic that respects the academic nature of the content.

• Responsive Design: I developed a fully responsive layout to ensure an optimal viewing experience across all devices, from desktop to mobile.

• Interactive Elements: I integrated subtle animations and interactive features to enrich the user experience without distracting from the core educational content.

Solution

Visual and Interaction Design

On the landing page, which can be seen in the provided video, the dominant title "PEDAGOGIJA" sets the academic tone against a rich maroon backdrop. The tagline succinctly communicates the site's offerings of scholarly publications.

The navigation was streamlined with clear, concise tabs to guide users smoothly through their journey. The books labeled "Naslovi" and "Časopisi" on the homepage are not only visually thematic but also serve as engaging entry points to the main content sections.

Responsiveness

I meticulously crafted the site to be responsive, ensuring that it delivers a seamless experience on any device. This approach guarantees that the website's authoritative content is accessible to all users, regardless of their choice of technology.

Animations

The animations I introduced are designed to be engaging yet unobtrusive. For instance, the slight lift of the books upon hovering invites users to explore further, creating a sophisticated interactive experience.

Outcome

The redesign led to an impressive uplift in user engagement metrics, with longer session durations and a lower bounce rate. The accessibility improvements were evident through enhanced compliance scores, and the feedback from the educational community was affirmatively positive, highlighting the intuitive and elegant nature of the new design.

Reflection

This project was a testament to my belief in the power of design to not only captivate but also to functionally enhance the way users interact with educational content. The successful redesign of Pedagogija.rs stands as a prominent portfolio piece that showcases my commitment to excellence in UX/UI design.
